  • Radja Nainggolan could be heading to the CSL.

Serie A challengers Roma have reopened talks with Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande for the transfer of midfielder Radja Nainggolan, according to reports in Italy on Wednesday.

Roma want to cash in on the talented Belgian international and are studying the best formula for his transfer to avoid paying China’s ‘luxury tax’ which has proved the stumbling block in a deal being reached.

Gazzetta Dello Sport reports that the €50m transfer to Guangzhou fell through early this week because the total cost would have reached €70m.

But Roma president James Pallotta has revived negotiations, with Gazzetta claiming that the capital side are now considering loaning the player to the Chinese champions for €6-8m, before an eventual permanent move with payments in instalments.

Roma are also reported to be interested in selling Brazilian-born defender Emerson Palmieri, with Chelsea and Liverpool interested in the 23-year-old, who has struggled to get back into the team following an eight-month injury lay-off.
