  • Pirlo hasn't played since November 2017.

Andrea Pirlo is considering coming out of retirement for a one-off appearance with Australian semi-professional side Avondale FC, according to Fox Sports.

Avondale play in the Victorian Premier League, Australia’s second tier, though they are due to face A-League side Sydney FC in the FFA Cupthe country’s main cup competition.

Italy, AC Milan and Juventus legend Pirlo last played in November 2017 for New York City FC. He would follow in the footsteps of Alessandro del Piero, who played for Sydney FC for two seasons at the end of his career, as another Italian icon to play in Australia.

Avondale have reportedly been keen to make a big-name signing for some time, and consider Pirlo to be the perfect marquee player to have on board for their cup tie, which will take place on September 19.
