    FRANCESCO TOTTI

Italian superstar and free agent Francesco Totti, who recently made a tearful farewell to Roma after 25 years at his boyhood club, is wanted by Japan’s Tokyo Verdy, according to Football Italia.

The J-League second division side have made an audacious offer to the 40-year-old World Cup winner, although they face competition from Major League Soccer’s Miami FC among others for Totti’s signature.

Verdy president Hideaki Hanyu has been quoted by Italian media as saying Totti had asked for a deal worth three million euros, but Verdy declined to confirm details of their offer.

Totti made 786 appearances and scored 307 goals for Roma in a glittering 25-year career, and won the World Cup with Italy in 2006.

    RATING: 4/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: It is unlikely that we’ll see Totti line out in the J-League next season with the MLS set to be his next career move. Although he is 40, Totti still has buckets of playing ability left in him and a season or two in the States would bring down the curtain on a decorated career.

    FABINHO

Manchester and the Independent claims United boss Jose Mourinho is targeting Monaco’s versatile midfielder Fabinho – even if he recruits Nemanja Matic from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Matic is expected to complete a £35m move from the Blues soon but Mourinho is desperate to freshen up his squad further.

Even though Fabinho primarily occupies the same holding midfield role as Matic, he has been used at right-back by his Ligue 1 club – a position that has sometimes proved problematic for Mourinho, who has occasionally turned to winger Antonio Valencia to fill the role.

    RATING: 8/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: After a stunning season, Fabinho is certainly a wanted man and it remains to be seen whether Monaco can keep their team of stars together.

With the Red Devils looking to upgrade their squad, Mourinho sees the Brazilian as a valuable player who can play right back and holding midfield.

    KURT ZOUMA

Chelsea could let Frenchman Kurt Zouma return to his homeland on loan with Nice in an effort to give the defender first-team football, says talkSPORT.

Ligue 1 club Nice are on the hunt for reinforcements after Paul Baysse joined Malaga and, with Virgil van Dijk or Leonardo Bonucci tipped to arrive at Chelsea in the coming weeks, Zouma could fall further down the pecking order under manager Antonio Conte, making a loan move a tempting possibility.

    RATING: 8/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: After a serious knee injury, the Frenchman played only three games for the Blues last season. With Conte expected to buy more options in defence over the next few weeks, now could be the right time for the 22-year-old to leave Stamford Bridge.
