Chelsea have agreed terms with Real Madrid for the transfer Alvaro Morata as they look to replace wantaway striker Diego Costa.

“Chelsea Football Club and Real Madrid have agreed terms for the transfer of Alvaro Morata to Stamford Bridge,” Chelsea said on their club website.

“The move is now subject to him agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

Morata although not first-choice at Madrid, is one of the most sought after strikers in Europe having built a reputation for himself on the back of impressive displays for the La Liga and Champions League winners.

His successful stint at Juventus also adds to his appeal.

Antonio Conte is known to be a fan of the striker who will be afforded regular first team football under the Italian ahead of the World Cup next summer.

Alvaro Morata

Alvaro Morata is set to move from Real Madrid to Chelsea ahead of the new season.

The Spanish striker has been linked to Manchester United for most of the summer but with Jose Mourinho’s side failing to agree a fee with Madrid, they swooped in and landed Chelsea’s prime target Romelu Lukaku instead.

Given the rift between Diego Costa and Antonio Conte, Chelsea have been left scrambling for a replacement after they were beaten to Lukaku’s signature.

According to Sky Sports Italia’s Gianluca Dimarzio, the Stamford Bridge outfit has finally landed the striker they need with a deal for Morata all but done.

With Costa heavily linked to a return to Atletico Madrid, Chelsea have been linked with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Andrea Belotti, Alexis Sanche and Sergio Aguero after missing out on Lukaku.

Although a few formalities are yet to be concluded, Morata to Chelsea appears to be a done deal.

The fee is expected to be in the region of £78 million.
