  • James Rodriguez is confident that Alvaro Morata will excel at Chelsea in his maiden Premier League campaign.

Morata joined the Stamford Bridge outfit from Real Madrid in a deal reportedly worth £70 million while Rodriguez also left the Spanish giants this summer, joining Bayern Munich on a two-year loan.

Both players were afforded limited playing time at the Bernabeu last season despite performing well when called into action as a result of the intense competition with the side that won the league and Champions League double.

“Morata is an excellent player with unique skills,” Rodriguez said when asked about the striker’s move.

“I think it will be good for Chelsea to have someone like him. At Real Madrid, he did great things and scored goals, even though he didn’t play much.

“Chelsea have done a good job in signing him. I wish him all the best and hopes he scores goals like he always does.”

Meanwhile, the Colombian expressed his joy at being a Bayern player.

“I am doing well, I’m very excited to be with my new team.”
