    NEYMAR

Neymar is set to have a medical in Doha on Tuesday as his move to PSG nears completion, according to Al Watan.

The Barcelona forward is currently in China fulfilling sponsorship commitments, but could complete what would be the transfer of the summer within the next few days.

PSG are keen to have the transfer wrapped up before their opening match of the season, against Amiens on Saturday.

    RATING: 9/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: When the talk of Neymar leaving Barcelona first started a number of weeks ago, it seemed impossible. Now, it seems inevitable.

Ultimately, as long as PSG trigger the forward’s release clause, Barcelona are powerless to keep him, and it seems this is now more or less a done deal.

It would be the biggest transfer in history, with the £196 million fee shattering the record set last summer when Manchester United paid £89 million for Paul Pogba, and its significance goes beyond that.

    PSG bound: Neymar.

    THOMAS LEMAR

Liverpool are joining the race to sign Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

Le10Sport is reporting that the Reds are looking at Lemar as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who is wanted by Barcelona.

Arsenal have had three bids rejected by Monaco, who previously said the winger is not for sale before softening their stance last week.

The Reds joining the race for the Frenchman could drive the price up as they compete with Arsenal for Lemar’s signature.

    RATING: 4/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: Liverpool have said they will not consider selling Coutinho this summer, leaving a move for Lemar unnecessary.

The situation could change if either Coutinho or Barcelona force the Reds’ hand, but until then, it’s unlikely that Liverpool are seriously looking at bringing Lemar to Anfield this transfer window.

And even if they do, Arsenal have been doggedly pursuing the player and are more likely to act decisively if they sense competition from Liverpool.

In fact, this could easily be a trumped up rumour designed to get Arsenal to up their bid.

    KYLIAN MBAPPE

Diario Gol say Cristiano Ronaldo does not want Mbappe to join Real Madrid, fearing that the young star could steal the limelight.

Ronaldo is reportedly worried that Mbappe would threaten his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or, and that he could lose his star status at Madrid.

    RATING: 2/10

SPORT360 VERDICT: If Madrid want Mbappe, then they will go and get him first, and worry about soothing Ronaldo’s ego later – and that’s if this story is true.

There were numerous reports that Ronaldo was miffed when Madrid’s purchase of Gareth Bale set a new transfer record, breaking the one that Ronaldo himself held, but that transfer has not affected his star status, and Mbappe won’t, either.

For as long as he’s playing there and is at the top of his game, the Portuguese will be the top dog in the Spanish capital.
