  • Diego Simeone is not too concerned by the interest in the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona have shown in Antoine Griezmann.

The Frenchman was largely expected to join United this summer but chose to remain at Atletico Madrid after the club’s transfer ban was upheld, preventing them from registering new players until January 2018.

However, despite signing a new contract, his release clause has remained the same at €100 million, leaving the door open for a move to Old Trafford next summer.

Meanwhile, with Neymar angling for a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona have turned to Griezmann as a possible replacement for the Brazilian.

“I’m happy about Griezmann and I’m happy that the best teams in the world want him,” Simeone said.

“That says something good about us. It shows that everything we do to improve is good for us.”

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been heavily linked with a return to Atletico in January but Simeone was reluctant to discuss the possibility.

“Of course, Diego Costa if he will come in January, we can’t say anything about that. What’s important is the players we have right now.”
