  • Two stars on the move: The Ox and Sterling.

England stars Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Raheem Sterling reported for national team training on Wednesday with the spotlight of potential transfers hanging over them.

Arsenal and Chelsea had come to an agreement over Oxlade-Chamberlain, only for the player to reportedly turn down the transfer, as he is said to prefer a move to Liverpool over Chelsea.

Whether the Reds will make an offer Arsenal deem acceptable remains to be seen, although Liverpool are increasingly confident of sealing a deal before the transfer window shuts on Thursday.

Manchester City, meanwhile, were supposedly considering using Sterling as makeweight in a player-plus-cash deal for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, although City manager Pep Guardiola is said to prefer a cash-only deal.

That may not have laid Sterling’s doubts to rest, after the player was said to be bemused by the possibility of being sold by City.

The England duo have been training together on Wednesday while their agents and respective clubs sort out their futures.
