  • Alexis Sanchez may not be moving clubs on transfer deadline day,, if his social media activity is anything to go by.

The Chilean forward ‘liked’ a tweet of an Arsenal fan singing a personalised song imploring Sanchez to stay with the club, which had gone viral over the last day.

Sanchez had been the subject of two bids from Manchester City, the latest in the form of a £50million, cash-only offer earlier on Thursday. The first bid was reportedly a player-plus-cash deal in which City winger Raheem Sterling would have gone the other way, but the club have since decided not to include the Englishman in any deal.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had previously insisted Sanchez is not for sale, saying that he would rather hold onto his wantaway player for the rest of the season, even if that means losing Sanchez for free next summer as the 28-year-old will be out of contract.

However, City’s interest shows that Arsenal are at least willing to entertain offers for Sanchez, although it will depend on whether they can recruit a replacement. The Gunners are said to have revived a bid for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
