  • Another day in football, another wave of transfer rumours to keep up on. Take a look at the most recent names and gossip being floated around in the media.

Will any of the following deals happen in January?

Let us know your thoughts by getting in touch via Twitter and Facebook.

    DAVID DE GEA

According to Diario Gol, Man United goalkeeper David De Gea has asked Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos to help him get his long-mooted move to the Spanish champions over the line.

De Gea has repeatedly been linked with Real Madrid in recent seasons, although the speculation was much quieter this summer, but the 26-year-old reportedly wants Ramos to speak to Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane and president Florentino Perez in order to make a deal happen.

    RATING: 5/10

    SPORT360 VERDICT

The De Gea to Madrid talk will never die down, no matter what United do to make it go away.

However, after the fax machine fiasco of 2015, when a move was agreed only to fall through, with both sides blaming each other, transfer negotiations between the two clubs over any player have become prickly.

That will always be a stumbling block to another deal for De Gea, as will Manchester United’s general reluctance to sell. It will take a lot to convince Jose Mourinho to sell one of his best players, and to his credit even De Gea has not agitated for a move.

    EMRE CAN

The Times are reporting that German midfielder Emre Can wants a release clause inserted in any new contract offered by Liverpool, which the club is unwilling to do.

With his current contract due to expire at the end of this season, Can was linked with a move to Juventus in the summer transfer window, and Liverpool risk losing the 23-year-old on a free if a new contract cannot be agreed.

    RATING: 6/10

    SPORT360 VERDICT

Unlike in the Philippe Coutinho saga where Liverpool held all the cards, in this case it is Can who is in the driving seat. If his contract demands are not met, he can simply run down his current contract and leave at the end of the season.

If a new deal isn’t agreed soon, in January he’ll be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England, so Liverpool’s negotiating position is weak to begin with.

Couple that with the fact that they’re competing against the Italian champions, and it seems increasingly likely that the young midfielder’s Anfield career is coming to an end.

    JANN-FIETE ARP

Local Hamburg publication Hamburger Morgenpost claims Chelsea made a last-minute bid for teenage striker Fiete Arp.

The 17-year-old opted against a move to the Premier League, and signed a new contract with Hamburg instead. Chelsea, meanwhile, were rebuffed in their other attempts to sign a striker to add depth to their forward ranks.

    RATING: 5/10

    SPORT360 VERDICT

Jann-Fiete Arp had been linked with Chelsea earlier in the summer after impressing at the U-21 Euros, where he scored seven goals for Germany, including two hat-tricks.

However, the striker had responded to the speculation by saying it didn’t make sense to move to Chelsea at the age of 17, especially as he’d never played senior football.

It seems the Premier League champions nonetheless made a lucrative offer to secure the youngster’s services, only to have yet another target rebuff their advances this summer.

In all likelihood Arp would have been loaned back to Hamburg or sent out on loan elsewhere, but the news that he rejected a Chelsea move entirely will not go down well after what was already a disappointing transfer window for manager Antonio Conte.
