The transfer window may not open again until January 1 2018 but that hasn’t put an end to plenty of speculation throughout Europe.

Here, we take a look at three big stories dominating the headlines on Sunday.

Will any of the following deals happen?

    DELE ALLI

Real Madrid are monitoring the situation of Dele Alli as the Spurs star fights the club’s strict wage structure in order to force a mammoth pay rise.

The England international is well down the pecking order on Spurs top earners list so it may prove difficult to hold on to him – should Real Madrid or Manchester United submit a substantial bid next summer.

According to the Daily Mail, plans are in place to improve the midfielder’s existing contract, but those discussions will test Daniel Levy with Ali set to insist on becoming the club’s highest earner.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs will be willing to pay Alli the money he is seeking, especially as his performances this season have been below par.

    RATING: 6/10

    SPORT360 VERDICT

Mauricio Pochettino is looking to bolster his squad, and with Alli scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists last season, the club will be keen to hang on to their prized asset.

But unless Levy offers his ace midfielder a bumper contract, the England international could leave North London.

    JAMES RODRIGUEZ

James Rodriguez is considering a move to Orlando City or New York City FC, according to Sport Bild.

The 23-year-old joined Bayern Munich on a two-year loan move during the summer but has grown frustrated since the sacking Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti worked with Rodriguez during what was probably his most productive season at Real Madrid – his debut campaign in 2014-15 – and is believed to be unhappy since the Italians dismissal.

    RATING: 3/10

    SPORT360 VERDICT

With the World Cup just around the corner and James being the central figure of the Colombian team, a move in the build up to the global footballing showpiece seems unlikely – even with a significant salary available at Orlando with the imminent retirement of Kaka.

    EMRE CAN

Juventus are prepared to wait until next summer to sign Emre Can from Liverpool for free, reports Corriere dello Sport .

The Germany international was the subject of transfer speculation during the summer and is yet to sign a new contract at Anfield, with his current deal due to expire next June.

    RATING: 6/10

    SPORT360 VERDICT

It’s no secret that the Serie A giants are on the lookout for a defensive midfielder after missing out on Nemanja Matic who joined Manchester United during the summer transfer window.

With less than a year left on his contract, Can is yet to sign an extension and may be weighing up his options.

It would be hard for him to turn down an offer from Juventus, where he would more or less be guaranteed trophies.
