Virgil van Dijk was left out of Southampton's trip to Tottenham.

WHAT THE PAPERS SAY

Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk will leave St Mary’s in January – but the club want £70million, the Mirror reports. Manchester City are leading the chase, but Liverpool think they are also in with a chance of signing the 26-year-old, according to the paper. Chelsea have not given up hope of landing the Dutch defender either, with Southampton putting a price tag on Van Dijk which is higher than the £50million that Manchester City paid for Kyle Walker in the summer.

Everton are looking to bring in Cenk Tosun, as new boss Sam Allardyce looks to boost the club’s firepower, the Daily Mail says. Besiktas have said they want £20m for the 26-year-old and Allardyce wants to bring the Turkey striker to Goodison Park in January, the paper said.

Tosun is being linked with the Goodison Park club.

Manchester United are keen to sign Juventus’ attacking midfielder Paulo Dybala in a £60m deal, the Daily Star reports. The paper says Jose Mourinho is “desperate” to sign a new number 10 with Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan having failed to make their mark at Old Trafford.

The 20-time league winners have opened talks with Bordeaux over signing 20-year-old Brazilian Malcom, the Daily Mail reports. The Ligue 1 club want around £50m, but the Red Devils will look to pay around £33m, the paper says.

Arsenal have been told they must cough up £40m if they want to sign Julian Draxler, the Daily Mirror reports. The Germany forward has failed to impress since signing for Paris St Germain and Arsenal want to recruit a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, the paper says.

The transfer window may not open again until January 1 2018 but that hasn’t put an end to plenty of speculation throughout Europe.

Here, we take a look at the biggest stories dominating the headlines on Tuesday.

ALEXIS SANCHEZ

Arsenal will listen to offers of around £35 million for Alexis Sanchez in January, according to the Daily Mail.

The Gunners are ready to cash in on the unsettled attacker to avoid losing him for nothing at the end of the season.

Man City boss Pep Guardiola is keen to reunite with the Chilean international, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Italian giants AC Milan and Ligue 1 heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain are among the other clubs interested in securing his services.

RATING: 8/10

VERDICT

An approach from Pep Guardiola’s side would certainly interest the Chilean, and with a salary of around €332,000 per week, it’s a move not to rule out just yet.

Although he has been linked with a move to England’s north-west before, it is likely the deal will go through next summer.

MALCOM

Manchester United are set to make a bid of around  £33 million for Bordeaux star Malcom, according to the Daily Mail.

Jose Mourinho considers the Brazilian as the best young player in Europe and wants to sign him next summer.

Bordeaux are believed to be looking for more than £55m – a fee United are unwilling to pay.

Malcom has been one of the mainstays in a struggling Bordeaux side this season, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in 16 games.

SPORT360 RATING: 6/10

VERDICT

Although his club are languishing in 15th place in Ligue 1, Malcom has been taking the league by storm with his glittering footwork and passing ability.

As Mourinho looks to strengthen his squad for next season, the young Brazilian could inject more class in an already star-studded attack.

Although £55 million is an expensive asking price, the Manchester hierarchy believe a fee of £33 million could be enough to get the deal over the line.

VIRGIL VAN DIJK

Liverpool have finally reached an agreement with Southampton for Virgil van Dijk, according to the Sunday World .

The Reds spent much of the summer trying to lure the star defender to Anfield, but the move failed to materialise.

Chelsea and Man City have also been interested in securing the Dutchman’s services, but Jurgen Klopp side’s are reportedly closest to getting the deal over the line – near to Southampton’s £70 million asking price.

RATING: 7/10

VERDICT

It’s not all that surprising to see Liverpool linked with the centre-half after shipping goals for fun recently but they face stiff competition for his signature from Chelsea.

The Reds have attempted to prize the 26-year-old away all summer and the hope from Anfield is that he will join the club despite the fiasco during the summer where the Saints accused Liverpool of an illegal approach.

Liverpool are confident that this deal will get over the line.

MAROUANE FELLAINI

Marouane Fellaini is prepared to leave Manchester United as he refuses to sign a new deal, according to Express Sport .

The midfielder has reportedly rejected a new contract, and is set to leave after failing to hold down a starting place in the team.

With the World Cup fast approaching, the 30-year-old is being lured away by the potential of game-time – having started just four games this season.

Fenerbahce are interested in signing for the player, with a China-based club also wishing to acquire his services.

RATING: 6/10

VERDICT

Several United fans have wanted to see the back of Fellaini almost since his arrival. However, over the last few years, many have come to appreciate him for what he offers in terms of effectiveness and the dedication he shows to the team’s cause.

It is understood that Jose Mourinho wants the board to renew his contract at all costs, but the Belgian has wants to leave Old Trafford due to a lack of game-time.

The 30-year-old is also being drawn away by the potential of more game-time with the World Cup less than seven months away.
