  • Arsene Wenger provided a huge update in the Alexis Sanchez transfer saga after Arsenal‘s 2-1 defeat away to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Chilean was left out of the squad entirely as reports suggested that he had agreed personal terms in principle with Manchester United while Manchester City also remain interested.

Wenger however revealed that no decision has been taken yet although the matter should be resolved within 48 hours.

“It could happen today, tomorrow or not at all. I didn’t want to travel with him and then he goes somewhere. It will be decided in the next 48 hours. It was difficult for him because he was on standby a little bit,” he said after the defeat to Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, Wenger confirmed that the club are in the market for replacements.

“If Sanchez goes, we need to replace him. When you look today we missed many players today. If he goes, we have to respond.’

When asked about Bordeaux forward Malcom who has been rumoured target for the Gunners, he said: “There’s nothing concrete there. It’s better that I don’t come out on any specific name.”
