  • United could soon be sweating over whether they'll be able to keep De Gea.

The transfer window is well and truly in full swing!

Here, we take a look at the biggest stories dominating the headlines on Thursday.

DE GEA CAGEY ON NEW MAN UNITED DEAL

David de Gea has refused to commit to signing an extension with Manchester United. In an interview with Sky Sports, the United goalkeeper said he would prefer to wait until the end of the season to discuss his contract, which expires at the end of next season, choosing instead to focus on the games he has to play between now and the summer.

    RATING: 6/10

    VERDICT

Jose Mourinho said earlier this week that United would look to tie up their star No. 1 to a longer deal, so that he doesn’t enter next season with just one year left on his contract. De Gea, of course, has been heavily courted by Real Madrid. The Spanish giants have been linked with many goalkeepers in recent times, but with Chelsea‘s Thibaut Courtois reportedly set to sign a new contract and speculation over Athletic Bilbao’s Kepa Arrizabalaga having cooled, United will be getting nervous about the possibility of losing De Gea. However, in this same interview, the keeper called United a “very special” club and generally sounded positive about life at the Manchester side. We could be set for another protracted De Gea saga.

TOTTENHAM IN FOR UNITED TARGET LUCAS MOURA

L’Equipe is reporting that Tottenham have stepped up their interest in rumoured Manchester United target Lucas Moura. The Brazilian is struggling for playing time at PSG and has been heavily linked with a move away, and Spurs are now seemingly the frontrunners.

    RATING: 7/10

    VERDICT

Moura always looked like a strange target for United, unless it was a back-up plan if they couldn’t land Alexis Sanchez. It’s likely that if Spurs emerge as the more serious suitors, United won’t rival the London club in this particular chase. Moura would add depth to Spurs’ attack and he’s shown glimpses of tremendous talent at PSG. Mauricio Pochettino might just be the manager who can get the best out of him.

Maybe Mauricio Pochettino is the man to unlock Lucas Moura's prodigious talent.

JUVENTUS TO RESCUE CAVANI FROM PSG

According to Corriere dello Sport, Edinson Cavani could swap PSG for Juventus at the end of this season. Cavani is PSG’s leading scorer and will soon be the club’s all-time top scorer, but the arrival of Neymar has served to marginalise the Uruguayan.

    RATING: 5/10

    VERDICT

It’s quite likely that Cavani will leave PSG at the end of the season – and it’s equally likely that he’ll have suitors who can offer him a more tempting deal than Juventus. The Italian giants probably won’t be able to match his current wages, but there are other clubs out there who can. A move to the Premier League, or Real Madrid or Barcelona, is a greater possibility than joining the reigning Italian champions.

Cavani: set to become PSG's all-time top scorer - and then discarded afterwards.
