Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham has revealed his astonishment at Alexis Sanchez‘s transfer from Arsenal to “the biggest club”.

Beckham was speaking at the launch of his new Major League Soccer franchise in Miami, the city to which he dreams of bringing some of football’s leading players.

When he was asked about Sanchez’s recent switch to Old Trafford, he expressed his astonishment at the move.

The former England captain, now 42, told Press Association Sport: “I still can’t believe it’s happened to be honest.

“When he’s been part of a club as big as Arsenal and then he moves a few hours away up north to the biggest club, it’s astonishing to see.

“We all wish him luck, I’m a Manchester United fan so I am excited about having someone of his talent wearing a Manchester United shirt – so it’s exciting times for us.”

Daniel Sturridge looks to be heading for the Hawthorns.

West Brom appear to have won the race to sign Liverpool‘s Daniel Sturridge on loan after the striker turned down the chance to go to Newcastle.

The 28-year-old has fallen a long way down the pecking order at Anfield and, as a result of injury and subsequent non-selection, has not featured since the Champions League match with Spartak Moscow on December 6.

Inter Milan had wanted to take Sturridge on loan to Serie A and tabled an offer which met Liverpool’s demands, but with Sevilla also expressing an interest the player was holding out for other opportunities.

Press Association Sport understands the striker spoke with Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez, with the Magpies willing to pay the player’s reported £125,000-a-week wages, but he has opted to join Premier League rivals West Brom.

Sturridge was born in Birmingham and still has family ties there and that is believed to have influenced his decision.

The conclusion of the move now rests on Sturridge passing a medical and committing to the second-bottom Baggies for the rest of the season.

West Brom boss Alan Pardew said after Saturday’s FA Cup win over Liverpool – a match Sturridge was not selected for despite being fit – that he was keen to bring in another striker to provide competition for his existing forwards, despite Jay Rodriguez scoring five goals in his last six matches.

“He (Rodriguez) will stop reacting if someone doesn’t come in,” Pardew said.

It leaves Newcastle, who have scored just 22 goals in 24 Premier League matches this season, with another problem after previously failing to agree a fee with Feyenoord for £22m-rated Danish international Nicolai Jorgensen.

Aubameyang looks to be on his way to the Gunners.

An agreement has been reached between Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Sky Sports have reported that the £60million deal will be completed as soon as the Bundesliga side sign a replacement for the 28-year-old.

Athletic Bilbao have confirmed that Aymeric Laporte‘s release clause, believed to be £57m has been triggered.

Laporte is in Manchester to finalise his move to Manchester City, according to the BBC and he posted a farewell message on his official Twitter account thanking them for their support during his time at the club.

The 23-year-old would provide depth at centre-back for City boss Pep Guardiola, whose spending on defenders since last season would reach £190m if Laporte signs.

Eskerrik asko, bihotzez. Aymeric Laporte

Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic is being linked with a move to Major League soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy.

United boss Jose Mourinho said: “If that is true and Zlatan wants a future in another club in another country we are here to help and to create conditions for that to happen, not to make his life difficult.”

An LA Galaxy source told the BBC though that it was nothing more than “rumours at present”.

Mourinho also said he wants to keep Marouane Fellaini at Old Trafford as the midfielder’s future remains in doubt.

Leonardo Ulloa has returned to Brighton on loan until the end of the season from Leicester.

The Argentinian forward returns to the south coast club after three-and-a-half-years with the Foxes.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton said: “We’re delighted to welcome Leo back to the club. He’s scored goals at Premier League level and will further strengthen our attacking options.”

Diafra Sakho has left the Hammers.

Diafra Sakho has left West ham to join French side Rennes on a two-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Sakho has spent the last three-and-a-half-years at the Hammers scoring 24 goals in 71 appearances.

West Ham are keen to sign Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and are prepared to pay £20m.
West Brom have signed defender Ali Gabr from Zamalek.

The move will see the Egyptian join on loan until the end of the season with a view to make it a permanent switch in the summer.

Former Everton and Australian international Tim Cahill is expected to complete his return to Millwall 20 years after starting his career there. The 38-year-old free agent is currently undergoing a medical.

Newcastle have made enquiries to take Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge on loan for the rest of the season.

Rafael Benitez hopes to add Sturridge and number one target Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen to his squad before the transfer window closes on Wednesday night.

The Magpies are one point clear of relegation and Benitez is keen to add more firepower to his squad, but he faces competition from West Brom who are in pole position to sign Birmingham-born Sturridge.

Decisions to make: Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp won’t be rushed into spending the money received for Philippe Coutinho finding his replacement.

Coutinho ended his long-running transfer saga by signing for Barcelona at the start of January’s transfer window.

Liverpool, who signed defender Virgil van Dijk for £75m, are reported to have received around £146m for the Brazilian.

Antonio Conte says Chelsea need Michy Batshuayi, even if the Blues sign another striker.

Batshuayi scored twice in Sunday’s 3-0 FA Cup fourth-round win over Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have been linked with Roma’s Edin Dzeko and Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud, while Batshuayi has been the subject of speculation of a loan move to Sevilla and elsewhere.

Conte said: “If you see our squad, we don’t have three, four, five strikers. We have two strikers: (Alvaro) Morata and Batshuayi.

Sky also reported on Monday morning that Blues forward Charly Musonda had arrived in Glasgow ahead of a proposed loan move to Celtic.
