  • The January transfer window may be shut but there’s still plenty of news from the rumour mill with several moves being put off until the summer.

Here, we round-up the transfer tales that have got everyone talking.

    Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Manchester United and Manchester City are set to battle it out over to sign Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to the Daily Record. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a breakout season in the Serie A and is drawing interest from around Europe. The Serbian international’s contract does not expire until 2020, but it’s believed the Roma club would consider selling him for £80 million. The 22-year-old has made 32 appearances this campaign, scoring seven goals and contributing to their comfortable fourth place in Italy’s top flight.

    Toby Alderweireld

The Times claims Spurs are prepared to sell Toby Alderweireld at the end of the season after reaching a cross roads in talks over a new contract. The Belgium defender, who turns 29 next month, is said to be refusing to budge on demands for £150,000-a-week deal – a salary the club are unwilling to pay for a player of his age. Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to support the decision, that will allow the money to be spent strengthening other areas of the squad and avoid upsetting other players. Real Madrid and Manchester United are said to be monitoring Alderweireld’s situation.
