    TIMO WERNER

Liverpool are considering a summer swoop for the promising Red Bull Leipzig attacker, the Independent claims.

The move could potentially be part of a double swoop of the German side, with the 22-year-old attacker joining midfielder Naby Keita at Anfield.

Whether Werner would reject Liverpool in favour of holding out for his ‘dream move’ to Manchester United remains to be seen too.

The German has been a talismanic figure at the Red Bull Leipzig Arena, scoring 37 goals in 66 appearances in all competitions since joining from Stuttgart in 2016.

Leicester, Newcastle and Southampton have sparked a three-way scrap to sign the outstanding Burnley forward reported to be worth £20m (Dh102m), The Sun reports.

The 27-year-old has played every game since October and has been an influential figure in helping Sean Dyche’s side into the Premier League top-seven.

Toon boss Rafa Benitez is believed to be a huge fan of the Iceland international, while Leicester are seeking a replacement for wantaway Riyad Mahrez.

The former Charlton star has one year left on his contract at Turf Moor with his value likely to increase at the World Cup.
