  • The Premier League transfer window is now open and the market in the rest of Europe will spark into life soon.

With the transfer rumours growing in pace and volume during this ‘silly season’, it can be difficult and painstaking to separate the stories of some legitimacy from the rest of the noise.

Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.

Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of the rumour mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.

CLEMENT LENGLET – From Sevilla to Barcelona

Reports suggest Barcelona are inching closer to a move for Sevilla’s French defender, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Why it will happen: The 22-year-old is viewed as a long-term replacement for Gerard Pique, and potentially, a more immediate one for Samuel Umtiti should he leave Camp Nou.

Why it won’t happen: His progress may be stalled if he joins the Catalan giants. It is claimed he would rather play regularly for a team of a smaller calibre than be restricted with a lack of minutes from the bench.

Prediction: With Barcelona set to match the buy-out clause in his contract, expect the Frenchman to put pen to paper on a long-term deal after the World Cup.

    Rating – 8/10

ALVARO MORATA – From Chelsea to Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund are planning a summer move for Morata with the Bundesliga club seeking a top class striker after the loss of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Arsenal.

Why it will happen: The Blues are open to cashing in on Morata after a difficult first season at Chelsea following his £60million move from Real Madrid. Selling the Spaniard would help raise money to fund their summer transfer plans.

Why it won’t happen: For all the criticism about his first season at Stamford Bridge, he still scored 15 goals in all competitions and it was injuries that hampered his progress. With another four years to run on his contract, it is doubtful he would want to leave West London already.

Prediction: With the prospect of a consistent pre-season, Morata could be back to his best for his second season at the club – and potentially under a new manager who could get the best out of his sparkling abilities.

    Rating – 3/10

ALEX SANDRO – From Juventus to Manchester United

Alex Sandro is looking for an escape route from Juventus after three trophy-laden seasons at the club. Manchester United and Chelsea are among the front-runners for his signature, according to reports.

Why it will happen: With Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian set to leave this summer, United are hopeful of securing the 28-year-old’s services for the 2018-19 season.

Why it won’t happen: The decision now for the Manchester hierarchy is whether they want to commit £53m on a left-back as they attempt to fight for the title next season. Jose Mourinho’s other option is to go for Tottenham’s Danny Rose.

Prediction: According to sources close to the Brazilian, he is seeking a fresh challenge and a switch to Old Trafford very much fits the bill with Chelsea no longer interested in signing him.

    Rating – 8/10
