  • Buffon to Liverpool - stranger things have happened. (We think.)

The summer transfer window is now open and rumours of players and coaches potentially being on the move are coming at a frenzied pace.

Across the world of football, there is plenty of activity and stories that have football fans talking.

Here, we look at the latest transfer deals that could happen very soon.

    GIANLUIGI BUFFON

It seems one of the more bizarre rumours you will hear this transfer window but the whispers are growing that the legendary Italian shot-stopper, at the tender age of 40, is considering a move to Merseyside.

The 2006 World Cup winner was all set to trade his boots in for slippers by signing off with Juventus at the end of yet another successful Serie A campaign but according to the man himself he has received a few tempting offers including, according to The Guardian, ESPN and The Sun, may include Liverpool.

If the move did happen it would certainly make some headlines.

    Wilfried Zaha is in demand.

    WILFRIED ZAHA

Another player linked to the Reds is the Crystal Palace winger, not surprisingly as the 25-year-old rips Liverpool apart every time he takes the field against them.

Former Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson, now at Palace, has come up with a plan to keep his star forward at Selhurst Park next, says the Liverpool Echo.

But Hodgson may not only have his former club to worry about as Pep Guardiola has also expressed interest in bringing Zaha to the Premier League champions.

The Ivorian would be the perfect foil for both City and Liverpool’s overworked front men but it will be a challenge to pry him away from south London.

Time to say goodbye - but where to next?

    DAVID MOYES

Strange moves are afoot at West Ham. Brought in to rescue the club from relegation last November, the former Everton boss did exactly that winning nine and drawing 10 of his 31 matches in charge.

The Hammers finished nine points clear of the drop zone, after Moyes earned seven points out of the last nine.

His last game in charge was a 3-1 win over Everton on Sunday, after which he said he wanted to stay beyond this season. But West Ham have loftier goals with Manuel Pellegrini the mooted replacement.

As for Moyes himself newly relegated Stoke are keen for him to take over from the freshly-sacked Paul Lambert.
