  • The Premier League transfer window is now open and the market in the rest of Europe will spark into life soon.

With the transfer rumours growing in pace and volume during this ‘silly season’, it can be difficult and painstaking to separate the stories of some legitimacy from the rest of the noise.

Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.

Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of the rumour mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.

EDEN HAZARD – From Chelsea to Manchester City

Chelsea‘s star of their FA Cup final win over Manchester United has attracted the interest from the other half of the Mancunian territory. Eden Hazard has emerged as Manchester City‘s chief transfer target this summer with manager Pep Guardiola set to launch a serious bid for his services, the Daily Star report .

Why it will happen: Hazard recognises City are primed to dominate the league. Guardiola has improved so many players, perhaps he could reach a new level under the Spaniard.

Why it won’t happen: City have an embarrassment of riches in terms of creativity. Hazard coming in would mean less playing time for Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling while Bernardo Silva falls further down the pecking order. Chelsea can’t afford to sell their talisman either.

Prediction: Hazard will no doubt be tempted to move and he would fit well into City’s system. But whoever is the manager at the Bridge next season will want to keep the Belgian.

MAROUANE FELLAINI – From Manchester United to AC Milan

AC Milan are growing in confidence in their bid to sign Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini, according to the Express.

The robust Belgian is yet to put pen to paper over a new deal at United and is set to be a free agent in June.

Why it will happen: Milan will be keen to secure the services of a formidable and effective midfielder on a free transfer. Fellaini may even be lured to the San Siro with the promise of more playing time.

Why it won’t happen: Jose Mourinho will attempt to keep Fellaini and may be able to persuade him. A lucrative offer from the Chinese Super League could prove too good to resist for the Belgian.

Prediction: The sense is that Fellaini would enjoy playing in Italy and being a more integral part of the first team. China will be tempting but maybe not just yet.

ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI – From Bayern Munich to PSG

Paris Saint-Germain have begun discussions with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski over a summer transfer, according to L’Equipe du Soir (via lefigaro.fr).

Why it will happen: With PSG seemingly desperate to keep Neymar happy, Edinson Cavani may be on the move. Lewnadowski would be an excellent replacement.

Why it won’t happen: Speaking of replacements… who do Bayern have to fill the goal-scoring boots of Lewandowski? No one. They aren’t going to let him go easily. The Pole may not even be keen on what would be a sideways move at best.

Prediction: If Lewandowski is going to move away from the Allianz Arena, the Santiago Bernabeu seems the only logical destination.
