    FRED

Manchester United are close to signing Shakhtar Donetsk’s Brazil international Fred as their first of the summer, the Manchester Evening News reports. The deal is expected to be finalised at the beginning of June as the Reds push to complete their transfers early in the window. Fred is due to travel to Liverpool for an international friendly against Croatia on June 3, which would provide an opportunity to seal the deal. Fred is said to have been earmarked as a means to strengthen the United midfield after Michael Carrick’s retirement and the possible departure of Marouane Fellaini on a free transfer.

    PACO ALCACER

The Barcelona forward has been told he needs to find a new club, according to Mundo Deportivo. The striker joined the Catalans from Valencia in 2016, but has struggled to make an impact in two seasons with the club. Alcacer is very much a back-up to club legend Lionel Messi and the prolific Luis Suarez at Camp Nou, but has still scored eight goals and provided three assists in 23 matches this season – 12 of which have come from the substitutes bench. The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Southampton, however, the player himself is said to want to stay in Spain.

    AHMED HEGAZI

Tottenham have joined a list of clubs tracking the inform West Brom defender, the Express reports. The Baggies face a battle to keep hold of their star centre back following their relegation to the Championship. The towering Egyptian started all 38 matches for the Hawthorns side and has been impressive across a difficult campaign for Darren Moore’s men. Spurs are planning to bolster their defensive options as doubts continue to surround the future of Toby Alderweireld who has been linked with Manchester United, and the 27-year-old former Al Ahly man has emerged as a possible replacement for the Belgian international.
