  • The transfer window is now open in the Premier League, with the rest of Europe set to follow soon.

The window is followed by the usual speculation, and with the airwaves full of transfer rumours, it can be difficult to figure out which ones are legitimate and which are just noise.

Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.

Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of our Rumour Mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.

GIANLUIGI BUFFON – FROM JUVENTUS TO PSG

Why it will happen: The Italian great’s agent has hinted that initial talks with the Parisians have already started and a move to Ligue 1 would give Buffon the opportunity to continue his illustrious career at the top level.

Why it won’t happen: The prospect of playing for another European club seems unlikely – could you imagine PSG being drawn against Juventus in the Champions League? He is too loyal for that.

Prediction: A move to the States or China beckons surely, but the 4o-year-old could be tempted by a big club given he still feels he can play at the highest level.

    Rating – 7/10

Went out on a high: Gigi Buffon.

ISCO – FROM REAL MADRID TO MANCHESTER CITY

Why it will happen: Pep Guardiola is a big admirer of the Los Blancos playmaker and is apparently very keen to add the 26-year-old to his squad. The Spaniard may like to test himself in the Premier League.

Why it won’t happen: Isco has finished the campaign strongly and is certain to star in the Champions League final. He will believe he has a massive future at the Whites, given no other player in Real’s team possesses his kind of ability with the ball.

Prediction: Isco will stay put at the Bernabeu for sure, and may even be rewarded with a new contract at the end of the season.

    Rating – 3/10

    In the headlines: Isco.

    In the headlines: Isco.

THIAGO ALCANTARA – FROM BAYERN MUNICH TO BARCELONA

Why it will happen: The Bayern Munich man is thought to want to settle in Spain, and prove himself fully in La Liga. One thing is for sure, he has hinted that his future lies elsewhere.

Why it won’t happen: Incoming boss Niko Kovac is likely to want to retain his services and will surely hold talks with the player before he can move on.

Prediction: It’s difficult to make a judgement call on his future just yet, but we should know more after the World Cup.

    Rating – 6/10

    World Cup-bound: Thiago Alcantara.
