The transfer window is now open in the Premier League, with the rest of Europe set to follow soon.

The window is followed by the usual speculation, and with the airwaves full of transfer rumours, it can be difficult to figure out which ones are legitimate and which are just noise.

Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.

Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of our Rumour Mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.

ANGEL DI MARIA – PSG TO ATLETICO

The PSG winger wants to join Atletico Madrid this summer, according to AS.

Why it will happen: Diego Simeone is looking to sign a creative attacking midfielder, and his compatriot Di Maria would fit the profile well. With restricted game time at Parc des Princes since the arrival of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, the Argentina star reportedly wants a move away from the French capital.

Why it won’t happen: He played 39 times for PSG last season and – although his minutes were restricted – he is still seen as a central figure to a successful team.

Prediction: The PSG star has already entered talks with Diego Simeone and expressed his interest in a move, so it could be sealed after the World Cup.

MAURO ICARDI – INTER TO CHELSEA

Chelsea are set to pounce on the Inter forward as soon as Maurizio Sarri is unveiled to succeed Antonio Conte, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Why it will happen: The Inter captain would be a stunning signing for the Blues having scored 110 goals in 190 appearances in Serie A. With the Argentine in their ranks, Chelsea would make the top four.

Why it won’t happen: The west London side aren’t the only Premier League club in the mix for his signature as Manchester United are also keen on signing him.

Prediction: A move to Stamford Bridge is an excellent chance for the 25-year-old to further his sparkling development to date.

Rating – 6/10

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN – TOTTENHAM TO BARCELONA

Barcelona have identified the Tottenham star as a possible replacement for Andres Iniesta, Sport reports.

Why it will happen: The Danish international is reportedly the club’s preferred candidate to fill the void left by Andres Iniesta, and at 26, has plenty of years and potential ahead of him to become a big name at the Camp Nou.

Why it won’t happen: It is uncertain whether the Catalan giants can afford the £87m (Dh424m)-rated playmaker and whether the North London side would be willing to let their prized asset leave the club.

Prediction: Barcelona would actually be a great fit for Eriksen, but it seems unimaginable to see him at another club, especially with Barcelona inching closer to sign Antoine Griezmann this summer.

Bayern Munich‘s star striker Robert Lewandowski wants to leave the Bundesliga club this summer to seek “a new challenge”, his agent told Sport Bild on Wednesday.

“Robert feels that he needs a change and a new challenge in his career,” Pini Zahavi told the weekly.

“The managers of Bayern know about it.”

Lewandowski, 29, whose Bayern contract runs until 2021, has been linked with Real Madrid while Qatari-backed Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester United are also understood to be interested.

He was the Bundesliga’s top scorer in the just-completed season with 29 goals.

In late February, the Poland international parted ways with his previous agent of 10 years, Cezary Kucharski, and signed up with Zahavi, one of the most powerful agents in world football.

Zahavi said that “Robert’s motivation are not money or a specific club, because almost all top clubs would like to sign up the world’s best striker.”

He said he hoped Bayern president Uli Hoeness and CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge would understand the player’s position.

“Everyone in the Bayern club leadership has their own great career to look back on. They should understand his situation,” he told Sport Bild.

Rummenigge told Kicker magazine earlier this month that Bayern fans “do not have to worry about Robert Lewandowski and the relationship with Bayern … We have a very good one.”

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN

Barcelona have identified the Tottenham star as a possible replacement for Andres Iniesta, Sport reports.

The Danish international has emerged as the club’s preferred candidate to fill that void but the La Liga champions are unsure if they can afford the £87m (Dh424m)-rated playmaker.

The 25-year-old has become an integral player for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season and with the London side unwilling to let their prized asset go, Barcelona face a real task of landing the midfielder.

ANGEL DI MARIA

The PSG winger wants to join Atletico Madrid this summer, according to AS.

The Argentina star has enjoyed two successful seasons at Parc des Princes, but wants to move back to the Spanish capital where he played some of the best football of his career with Real Madrid between 2010 and 2014.

The 30-year-old scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in 43 appearances this season, but started just one Champions League game as Unai Emery opted for a front three of Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani and Neymar.
