  • Barcelona‘s pursuit of Clement Lenglet has come under threat as Manchester United joined the race for the centre-back.

According to Manchester Evening News, Jose Mourinho has picked out the Sevilla defender as a cheaper option to Toby Alderweireld.

The Manchester United boss is considering a €35 million bid for Lenglet as he looks to find a steady central defensive partner for Eric Bailly.

Tottenham reportedly turned down United’s offer in the region of €62 million for Alderweireld.

As such, the Red Devils are looking elsewhere for alternatives.

Despite extending Samuel Umtiti’s contract, Barcelona are still keen on signing Lenglet but face stiff competition from the Premier League giants.

Having already completed the signings of Diogo Dalot from Porto and Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk, the Mourinho’s side are keen on continuing their investment in the squad as they attempt to bridge the gap between themselves and Manchester City.
