YERRA MINA

Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing the star Barcelona defender, reports Mundo Deportivo.

The 23-year-old only moved to Camp Nou from Palmeiras in January, and the La Liga champions do not want to sell him.

However, the club may need to free up a non-EU roster slot to incorporate the incoming Arthur Melo from Gremio, and could be forced to sell the Colombian international, given Paulinho and Philippe Coutinho are essential members of the squad.

ALEKSANDR GOLOVIN

Juventus are close to a deal with CSKA Moscow for the Russian international, according to Calciomercato.

The 22-year-old will play for the hosts against Saudi Arabia in the World Cup opener, which starts tonight in Moscow.

The Serie A champions have been increasingly linked with a move for the highly-rated midfielder, and are believed to have agreed terms with him.

The Russian club want a fee in the region of €25m (Dh108m) for Golovin, who scored seven goals and provided three assists in all competitions last season.

RAFAEL

Lyon have reached an agreement with Besiktas for the transfer of the elusive full-back, according to L’Equipe.

The former Manchester United player has one year remaining on his contract, and will move to the Turkish outfit if the two clubs can reach a final agreement of €10m (Dh44m).

Les Gones currently have three right-backs at the club, meaning one of Kenny Tete or Rafael will surely leave Groupama Stadium this summer.

Although the Brazilian is a more valuable player for the Ligue 1 side, he would be more of a bankabale asset for potential buyers.

ANTHONY MARTIAL

Anthony Martial wants to leave Manchester United this summer, according to his agent.

The 22-year-old French forward, who joined United from Monaco for £36million in September 2015, scored 11 goals across 43 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League giants last season.

But his representative Philippe Lamboley claims “the time has come” for the player to move on after failure to reach a new deal.

Lamboley told RMC Sport: “After thinking about all the factors and possibilities, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United. There are lots of factors, and right now it’s too early to talk about them.”

Martial has 11 France caps but is not part of the squad which will compete at the World Cup in Russia.

BERND LENO

The Bayer Leverkusen shot-stopper is likely to move on from the Bundesliga side at the end of the season, according to Sky Sports.

The 26-year-old has been tipped to move to North London and is seen as the ideal successor to Petr Cech, who turned 36 in May.

Leverkusen are all but resigned to losing Leno – who has an option in his existing contract, which is set to expire in 2020, to leave the club once this campaign draws to a close.

Napoli and Arsenal are also in the mix to land the €20m-rated goalkeeper (Dh89m).

Five things you didn't know about Lucas Torreira as Uruguayan nears Arsenal transfer

Lucas Torreira is set to join Arsenal from Sampdoria.

Arsenal‘s defensive midfield position has been a problem ever since the departure of Gilberto Silva in 2008, but new manager Unai Emery is closing in on a solution.

The club are close to signing Sampdoria’s Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira, who has impressed in Serie A and earned a spot in his national team’s 23-man World Cup squad.

So who exactly is the 22-year-old who could be the new anchor in Arsenal’s midfield?

ONCE DUBBED THE NEW CARLOS TEVEZ

Torreira arrived in Italy as a striker, drawing comparisons with Carlos Tevez for his combative style up front. But then-Pescara manager Massimo Oddo, who had won the World Cup with Italy in 2006, saw that the youngster’s abilities were better suited in midfield.

The Uruguayan thrived in his new role, earning a move to Sampdoria and soon earning a reputation as one of Serie A’s best defensive midfielders. Arsenal may have finally found the answer to their problems at the position.

LUIS SUAREZ DIDN’T KNOW HE WAS URUGUAYAN

The first time Luis Suarez encountered his compatriot Torreira was when Barcelona were playing Sampdoria in a pre-season friendly in 2016. At the time, Suarez didn’t know Torreira was a fellow Uruguayan – in fact, he had no idea who the defensive midfielder was at all.

“I was surprised by the youngster who had been in the middle of the park for the whole match,” Suarez told Telemundo earlier this season. “After that evening, I learned he was Uruguayan, and from that moment, I started to follow him a bit in Serie A.”

PRODUCT OF THE FAMED PESCARA PRODUCTION LINE

Recent stars to have spent formative years at Pescara include Marco Verratti, Lorenzo Insigne, Ciro Immobile and Mattia Perin. It’s safe to say that the club based on the eastern coast of Italy has been a good finishing school for some bright young talents.

Torreira, then, is the latest in a long line of promising players to come out of Pescara with an enhanced reputation.

BETTER THAN VERRATTI?

Roberto Druda, the scout who brought Torreira to Sampdoria, told Calciomercato last year that Pescara manager Oddo believed the Uruguayan could be even stronger than Verratti.

Apparently, he wasn’t alone, as Druda said “many others” were “convinced” of this notion. Now, Torreira has a stage where he can prove them right.

A 22-YEAR-OLD VETERAN

Lucas Torreira already has 71 Serie A starts under his belt – but his time as a first-choice player goes beyond that. Those starts came for Sampdoria, but he also made 29 for Pescara in 2015-16 as he spearheaded their promotion from Serie B.

Put together, that’s 100 starts in three seasons in Italy. For reference, Paul Pogba made 108 in four seasons for Juventus. It’s a comparison that flatters the Uruguayan.
