  • The transfer window is well and truly open.

With the rumours growing in pace and volume during this ‘silly season’, it can be difficult and painstaking to separate the stories of some legitimacy from the rest of the white noise.

Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.

Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of the rumour mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.

    ANTHONY MARTIAL

Anthony Martial wants to leave Manchester United this summer, according to his agent.

Why it will happen: The French winger has been frustrated at a lack of minutes at Old Trafford and his representative Philippe Lamboley claims “the time has come” for the player to move on after failure to reach a new deal.

Why it won’t happen: Martial may feel a move away from Manchester is a step down in his career.

Prediction: The former Monaco star can reignite his career with another club and would get his confidence back with regular game time elsewhere.

    Rating – 8/10

YERRY MINA – BARCELONA TO BORUSSIA DORTMUND

Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing the star Barcelona defender, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Why it will happen: Barcelona may need to free up a non-EU roster slot to incorporate the incoming Arthur Melo from Gremio, and could be forced to sell the Colombian international, given Paulinho and Philippe Coutinho are essential members of the squad.

Why it won’t happen: The 23-year-old only joined the Catalan side in January on a five-year deal and the club don’t want to sell him.

Prediction: The former Palmeiras man definitely won’t want to leave but the decision may be out of his hands, but with Coutinho hoping to secure a Portuguese passport, Barcelona will do everything they can to keep hold of the defender.

    Rating – 3/10

BERND LENO – BAYER LEVERKUSEN TO ARSENAL

The Bayer Leverkusen shot-stopper is likely to move on from the Bundesliga side at the end of the season, according to Sky Sports.

Why it will happen: Arsenal are chasing a new goalkeeper this summer as new boss Unai Emery eyes a long-term replacement for 36-year-old Petr Cech. Leno certainly fits the bill given he has underlined his status as the best man between the sticks in the Bundesliga.

Why it won’t happen: Napoli are desperate for more a new goalkeeper and could offer the 26-year-old Champions League football, something out of the North London side’s hands.

Prediction: The Gunners want to rebuild again under Emery this summer and the German remains a key part of his plans.

    Rating – 7/10
