    ALEKSANDR GOLOVIN

Manchester United remain red alert over the Russian’s availability following his star-studded performance for his country in the 5-0 thrashing of Saudi Arabia in Thursday night’s World Cup opener.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the 22-year-old, who has widely been linked with the Old Trafford in the past, has no shortage of admirers among European football big clubs.

The CSKA Moscow playmaker was in fine form in Moscow during the Group A clash, scoring once and bagging two assists to get the hosts off to the best possible start.

Golovin is tipped by many to become one of the stars of the tournament.

    MARVIN PLATTENHARDT

Everton have identified the Hertha Berlin left-back as a long-term replacement for club stalwart Leighton Baines, Bild reports.

The Toffees, led by new boss Marco Silva and Director of Football Marcel Brands, are set to ring the changes at Goodison Park and want to bolster their defence with the acquisition of the 26-year-old.

Plattenhardt, who is part of Joachim Low’s Germany World Cup squad, could be a like-for-like full-back to fill the boots of Baines, who at 33, is coming towards the backend of a stellar Goodison Park career.

However, no deal will be agreed until the summer showpiece in Russia is over with Plattenhardt’s agent confirming his client is fully focused on playing with Die Mannschaft.
