    MAURIZIO SARRI

Maurizio Sarri is set to be appointed as Chelsea’s new manager on a three-year contract, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian publication reports that Sarri, still under contract at Napoli, has already been replaced by Carlo Ancelotti at Stadio San Paolo.

Although there has been a stand-off for a number of weeks over the Blues unwilling to pay a £8m (Dh39m) clause in his contract, it is believed the deal is back on and the 59-year-old will put pen to paper at Stamford Bridge as early as next week.

    FRENKIE DE JONG

Barcelona have contacted Ajax over their highly-rated defender in the wake of Antoine Griezmann’s decision to stay at Atletico Madrid, according to AS.

The 21-year-old started 25 times for the Eredivisie side last term, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process. Ernesto Valverde is reportedly keen to sign De Jong as he looks to bolster his midfield ahead of next season.

The Dutch U21 star, who still has four years remaining on his contract, has also been monitored by Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea.

    MARIO GOTZE

Tottenham are eyeing a move for the out-of-form Borussia Dortmund attacker, according to Football London.

The North London side are monitoring the German’s availability, with the prospect of the 26-year-old being offloaded for £16m (Dh78m).

The former Bayern Munich player has failed to build on his progress since the 2014 World Cup and was left out of Joachim Low’s squad for this year’s tournament in Russia.

Gotze made just 19 Bundesliga starts last term for a Dortmund side who have plummeted down the table since the departure of Thomas Tuchel.
