Incoming Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has big plans for his new posting and these include a €36 million (Dh154.1m) move for Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Manolas, 27, has grown into one of Serie A’s best defenders and his displays have not gone unnoticed by outgoing Napoli tactician Sarri.

Reports in Italy state that both player and club have been informed of the Blues’ intent to pay his release and wages of €5m (Dh21.4m) per year.

Mateo Kovacic’s determination to leave Real Madrid and attain regular football could see the Champions League holders turn to Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara, according to Marca.

Alcantara, 27, is a long-term ally of new Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui and was a key member of his Spain side. Los Blancos are reluctant to lose Kovacic, but the Croatia international is determined to gain more minutes.

Bayern have set a €70m (Dh299.4m) price for Alcantara and Madrid could pay this for the ex-Barcelona star.

    ANTE REBIC

Ante Rebic’s performances for Croatia and Eintracht Frankfurt have piqued the interest of Tottenham Hotspur, according to Bild.

Rebic, 24, went from villain to hero in Thursday’s famous victory against Argentina at World Cup 2018. The winger was lucky to escape red for a wild challenge, before later lashing home a perfect volley from goalkeeper Willy Caballero’s mistake.

Such displays, plus eight goals in 49 Bundesliga appearances for Eintracht, has seen Spurs register interest about a £26m (Dh126.9m) switch.
