  • Fernando Torres' move to the J-League has hit a snag.

Fernando Torres’s switch to J-League club Sagan Tosu has reportedly stalled, according to a report by Sports Hochi newspaper.

The Atletico Madrid legend has apparently failed to agree terms with the Japanese outfit over the value of a big-money contract that could see the 34-year-old star earn up to $7.2 million (Dh26.4m) a year.

The future of Torres, who left his boyhood club at the end of last season – capping his second stint at the Red and Whites with a Europa League trophy – now looks uncertain.

Up until this report, it was believed the formalities of the free transfer and contract arrangement were all but done.

Sagan Tosu, who are second-from-bottom in the J-League and desperate for firepower in a bid to avoid relegation, have yet to comment on the news while Torres has also been linked with MLS team Chicago Fire as well as Beijing Renhe.
