  • The summer transfer window for all international deals is open.

With the transfer rumours growing in pace and volume during this ‘silly season’, it can be difficult and painstaking to separate the stories of some legitimacy from the rest of the noise.

Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.

Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of the rumour mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.

CRISTIANO RONALDO – REAL MADRID TO JUVENTUS

Juventus are hoping to lure the Portuguese captain away from Real Madrid this summer by offering a mammoth long-term contract, according to Tuttosport.

Why it will happen: The five-time Ballon d’Or winner could be tempted away from Bernabeu to seek a new challenge, especially with a burgeoning Turin side who would match his huge salary demands.

Why it won’t happen: Ronaldo is an Real legend and, although it is likely that the 33-year-old will step down a level from Madrid at some stage, it may not happen for another few years.

Prediction: After winning a fifth Champions League title last month, it still seems unimaginable to see the Portuguese at another club now. But in order for Los Blancos to secure Neymar next season, they may need to let Ronaldo go.

N’GOLO KANTE – CHELSEA TO BARCELONA

Barcelona have made the Chelsea midfielder their top target of the summer transfer window, according to Le Parisien.

Why it will happen: The French publication are reporting that the Catalan giants are keen to find the ultimate, all-purpose midfielder and see the 27-year-old as the main man to fill the role. And with the potential to win trophies and play alongside Lionel Messi, it looks like a difficult move to turn down.

Why it won’t happen: The French international still has three years to run on his current deal and it is unlikely the Blues hierarchy would allow the influential player to leave.

Prediction: Kante is reportedly happy in London and has no intention of leaving the club he only joined in 2016.

    Rating: 5/10

    BENJAMIN PAVARD

Stuttgart will not sell the highly-rated French defender for €50 million and want to keep him for another year, according to Stuttgarter Nachrichten.

Why it will happen: The 22-year-old has been a class act so far at the World Cup and may feel it is the right time to move away from the Bundesliga to further develop his career.

Why it won’t happen: Pavard played every minute of Stuttgart’s Bundesliga campaign last season and enjoys the pressure of being the main man in their defence.

Prediction: Although Stuttgart will want Pavard to stay, expect more interest to follow for his services as Didier Deschamps’ side progress to the latter stages of the World Cup.
