  • Will he stay in Italy? Paulo Dybala

The transfer window is well and truly open.

With the rumours growing in pace and volume during this ‘silly season’, it can be difficult and painstaking to separate the stories of some legitimacy from the rest of the white noise.

Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.

Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of the rumour mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.

PAULO DYBALA – JUVENTUS TO LIVERPOOL

The Argentine playmaker has emerged as a target for Liverpool, according to Tuttomercatoweb

Why it will happen: Cristiano Ronaldo’s impending move to the Serie A champions means Massimiliano Allegri will have to look at a way to accommodate the Portuguese star in his starting XI. His arrival could mean the exit of the Argentine playmaker with Juve knowing they can recoup much if not all of the Ronaldo money spent, considering Dybala is just 24 and his highly rated.

Why it won’t happen: Dybala has not publicly said that he wants to leave and is happy to stay in Turin. Given his strong campaign last season, his price tag might be the stumbling block that Liverpool will have to match in order to secure his services.

Prediction: Until Ronaldo puts pen to paper on a deal at Juventus, Dybala will remain with the Serie A champions for next season. But even if the Portuguese star signs, Juventus would be mad to let go one of their star players in what would be one if Europe’s fearsome attacks along with Gonzalo Higuain.

MATEO KOVACIC – REAL MADRID TO TOTTENHAM OR CHELSEA

London rivals Tottenham and Chelsea have enquired about signing the Real Madrid midfielder, according to Talksport

Why it will happen: The Croatian midfielder has already spoken of his desire to leave the European champions after being frustrated with the lack of starts.

Why it won’t happen: Kovacic often warmed the bench on most weeks under Zinedine Zidane but now that the Frenchman has gone, new coach Julen Lopetegui might be willing to give the Croatian opportunities to prove his talent.

Prediction: The former Inter Milan man will not be short of options should he decide to move on but given the array of talent at both Spurs and Chelsea, starting spots will be hard to come by. Don’t be surprised if Kovacic doesn’t land up at either of the two London clubs.

JACK GREALISH – ASTON VILLA TO TOTTENHAM

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in bringing in the England Under-21 star to White Hart Lane, according to the Mail.

Why it will happen: The England Under-21 star impressed for Aston Villa in their Championship campaign but given that they missed out on promotion to the Premier League, it looks like it’s only a matter of time before he leaves Villa Park.

Why it won’t happen: While Spurs have emerged as the front-runners for the 22-year-old, they may need to improve their £15m offer with Villa wanting double that.

Prediction: Considering his standout campaign last season, Grealish is certain to leave the Midlands. Spurs feel that they can take advantage of Villa’s financial problems to push a deal through while Grealish will be keen to prove his talent in a team where many England stars are playing.
