With the rumours growing in pace and volume during this ‘silly season’, it can be difficult and painstaking to separate the stories of some legitimacy from the rest of the noise.
Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.
Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of the Rumour Mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.
GONZALO HIGUAIN – FROM JUVENTUS TO CHELSEA
Juventus could offload the Argentine striker after clinching a club-record €99m deal for Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
Why it will happen: Ronaldo is set to steal all the limelight for the Turin giants and it could be the perfect time to cash in on the 30-year-old, who has long been a Chelsea target.
Why it won’t happen: There is still uncertainty surrounding the Blues’ transfer policy this summer and indeed Antonio Conte’s long-term future, two factors which could hold up any incomings into Stamford Bridge.
Prediction: It looks like Higuain will be on his way out of Juventus but where to is another question.
Rating: 6/10
ADRIEN RABIOT – FROM PSG TO BARCELONA
Barcelona are edging closer to the capture of the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder after reportedly agreeing terms with the 23-year-old.
Why it will happen: The talent is surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes and would bring a youthfulness to the Camp Nou side’s midfield.
Why it won’t happen: Barca have several other options up their sleeve and don’t just have to rely on the prospect of signing Rabiot.
Prediction: Blaugrana believe in the former Manchester City youth product’s potential and are poised to make the transfer happen sooner rather than later.
Rating: 8/10
CRISTIAN PAVON – BOCA JUNIORS TO ARSENAL
Arsenal have not given up hope of signing the Boca Juniors forward but could be priced out of a move.
Why it will happen: The Gunners’ busy summer of transfer activity has shown no signs of slowing down and Pavon is just their latest target.
Why it won’t happen: Boca’s bumping up of the 22-year-old’s release clause to £37.5m (Dh182m) has caused this deal to hit a serious snag, given the forward was thought to be available for around half of that.
Prediction: The Argentina international looks likely to be priced out of a move to the Premier League.
