Liverpool have increased their offer to sign Croatia centre-back Domagoj Vida, according to reports.
The Merseysiders had an initial bid of £16million knocked back for the World Cup defender, who plies his trade at club level with Besiktas.
But, now, Jurgen Klopp’s men hope to clinch his signature and have tabled a £20m proposal.
Turkish publication Fanatik carried the news but also suggested the Reds will have to match Besiktas’ valuation of the 29-year-old, which stands at close to £31m.
It remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool want to break the bank for the 29-year-old though the prospect of Vida linking up with fellow countryman Dejan Lovren at the heart of their defence next term is a welcome proposition.
Indeed, Lovren could convince his compatriot to move to England after their country’s run through to a World Cup meeting with France.
