ANDRE GOMES

Arsenal are preparing a bid for the Barcelona midfielder, who looks certain to leave Camp Nou this summer.

The 24-year-old, who has struggled to nail down a permanent spot in the Blaugrana first XI since his move from Valencia in the summer of 2016, has been left out of the club’s pre-season tour to North America.

That has only served to increase speculation the Gunners will land the Portuguese star for a fee in the region of €20 million (Dh85m), according to Sport.

However, Turin giants Juventus have also shown interest in recent times and could yet gazump Unai Emery’s men with an offer of their own.

Andre Gomes didn’t feature regularly last season.

BENJAMIN PAVARD

France’s World Cup defender has emerged as a top target for Tottenham this summer, The Mirror reports.

Pavard, who plays his club football with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, has starred at right-back for Les Bleus throughout the tournament despite being a centre-back by trade.

With Toby Alderweireld’s north London future in the balance, Spurs have lined up the 22-year-old as his replacement should the Belgian opt to move on from Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

German giants Bayern Munich are also monitoring Pavard’s situation while the player himself has yet to go on the record about what is next for him.

Gareth Bale was the star of the show in last season's Champions League final.

The summer transfer window is open and across the globe there is a frenzy of speculation as players and coaches look for their next moves.

There is plenty of activity and stories that have football fans talking.

Here, we look at the latest transfer deals that could happen very soon.

GARETH BALE

The Real Madrid star is set for crunch talks over his Bernabeu future with new Los Blancos boss Julen Lopetegui, The Mirror reports.

Manchester United have been tracking the Welshman for some time given he has appeared unsettled at the Spanish giants.

However, following the departure of both Zinedine Zidane – a man he previously didn’t see eye to eye with – and Cristiano Ronaldo, Bale could end up staying with the Whites.

In the coming days, the 28-year-old will hold discussions with Madrid hierarchy and ultimately make a decision on where he will ply his trade next term.

Real’s reported pursuit of Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard could have an impact on Bale’s future.

DANNY INGS

Southampton want to sign the Liverpool striker, according to The Sun.

The 25-year-old, who grew up on the south coast and supposedly dreamed of playing for the red and whites as a boy, has endured three injury-hit campaigns at Anfield since his move to Merseyside from Burnley in the summer of 2015.

Competition for places in Jurgen Klopp’s side remains fierce next term and Ings could jump at the opportunity to resurrect his career with Mark Hughes’ men.

Reportedly, the Saints are ready to splash the cash and bid up to £20 million (Dh97m) for his services.

DIEGO LAXALT

Everton face stiff competition from Bournemouth in the race to sign the Uruguay World Cup star, according to The Sun.

The 25-year-old versatile left-back enjoyed a strong campaign in Russia, and as a result, has attracted a string of admirers from the Premier League.

The Toffees missed out on securing Celtic defender Kieran Tierney and instead have turned their attention to the Genoa man in a bid to provide competition for the ageing Leighton Baines.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, are keen to strengthen their backline and also want someone to rival first-choice Charlie Daniels.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp insists the door remains open for striker Daniel Sturridge despite doubts remaining over his future.

The England international fell down the pecking order last season after injuries impacted on his availability and he has been linked with a move to the likes of Sevilla and Besiktas.

He still has plenty to prove to Klopp, considering his fitness record, he is worthy of retention but the 28-year-old has looked one of the sharpest performers in pre-season – although even he could not break the deadlock in a goalless draw at League Two Bury.

“It’s funny, this is my third pre-season and every year we talk about the same things!” said the Reds boss.

“It’s no problem. I always said there is a future, it’s about what we do in the moment.

“At the moment it’s all good and we don’t have to make decisions. I don’t think about my players like this – like, maybe he’s in or out.

“With the young ones we make these decisions but not with the other guys. They show up, and it should be easy for me in the end.

“The window is still open, right? Is it closing tomorrow? Good.”

The game saw Loris Karius, who made another error in Tuesday’s win at Tranmere, given an hour in goal with Danny Ward training at Melwood as he is likely to start at Blackburn on Thursday.

Harry Wilson, after an impressive start to pre-season, was not involved with the likelihood he will go out on loan to a Sky Bet Championship club in the near future with Stoke, Derby and Swansea all interested.

New signing Xherdan Shaqiri, who joined from Stoke for £13million on Friday, will be part of the squad for next week’s International Champions Cup in the United States.

There were first pre-season appearances for Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip with the Dutchman looking particularly composed in a 45-minute first-half run-out.
