  • The transfer window is well and truly open.

With the rumours growing in pace and volume during this ‘silly season’, it can be difficult and painstaking to separate the stories of some legitimacy from the rest of the white noise.

Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.

Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of the rumour mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.

THIBAUT COURTOIS – CHELSEA TO REAL MADRID

Chelsea shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois has agreed to join Real Madrid in a deal worth €35m, RMC claims.

Why it will happen: The Belgian netminder has reportedly signed a four-year deal at the Bernabeu. Julen Lopetegui needs a new No.1 and the 26-year-old fits the bill.

Why it won’t happen: Only if something drastic happens. A late swoop from another team or if negotiations over personal terms collapse.

Prediction: The former Atletico Madrid man has long since been linked with a return to the Spanish capital and has made it known he wished to return to the Spanish capital given he has family living in the city.

    Rating – 9/10

GONZALO HIGUAIN – JUVENTUS TO CHELSEA

Chelsea are plotting a £53million swoop for the Juventus striker, according to the Evening Standard.

Why it will happen: The Blues struggled in front of goal last season and the prospect of signing a proven attacker in Higuain, who has scored 55 goals in 105 appearances over the last two seasons at Juventus, is a solid option.

Why it won’t happen: The 30-year-old may be past his best and hasn’t looked physically fit over the past 12 months. And with Olivier Giroud already in their squad, Chelsea may opt for a younger, quicker option up front.

Prediction: The Argentine may be aging but should still deliver in the short term for Maurizio Sarri.

    Rating – 7/10

MALCOM – FROM BORDEAUX TO EVERTON

Everton are in advanced talks to sign the Bordeaux striker, according to Sky Sports News.

Why it will happen: The former Corinthians man was one of the mainstays for Bordeaux in Ligue 1 last season and would be a great addition to Marco Silva’s side.

Why it won’t happen: The Premier League side are reported to have offered £30m to secure the Brazilian’s services. However, Bordeaux are believed to be looking for £40m for the 21-year-old wonderkid – a fee the Toffees may be unwilling to pay.

Prediction: It may rumble on for a bit, but Everton seem like a good fit for Malcom to further his development.

    Rating – 7/10
