The summer transfer window is in full swing especially with Premier League clubs racing to get deals over the line before their August 9 deadline.

With the rumours growing in pace and volume during this ‘silly season’, it can be difficult and painstaking to separate the stories of some legitimacy from the rest of the noise.

Fortunately, we’ve taken it upon ourselves to do it for you.

Below, you’ll find some of the latest transfer news churned out of the Rumour Mill broken down and analysed for your benefit along with our calculated predictions.

ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI – BAYERN MUNICH TO CHELSEA

    Robert Lewandowski.

    Robert Lewandowski.

Real Madrid are still monitoring Robert Lewandowski’s situation at Bayern Munich but Chelsea have now lodged an interest as well.

New manager Maurizio Sarri is said to have made the Poland international his top summer target, according to the Daily Star.

Why it will happen: Not since his final season at Borussia Dortmund has Lewandowski been so keen on a move away. With Gonzalo Higuain set to join AC Milan, Chelsea have stepped up their pursuit of the Pole.

Why it won’t happen: Bayern boss Niko Kovac has dismissed the possibility of the move. When a manager is as adamant as he is about the situation, it rarely goes the other way.

Prediction: Bayern don’t really have an alternative to Lewandowski, at least not someone anywhere near the same calibre. The striker is under contract until 2021 so the Bundesliga outfit are under no pressure to sell.

ADRIEN RABIOT – FROM PSG TO BARCELONA

Adrien Rabiot is on Barca's shopping list.

Adrien Rabiot is on Barca’s shopping list.

Barcelona are running out of time to recruit another midfielder to help bolster their squad but are willing to wait one more week for Adrien Rabiot, according to Sport.

Why it will happen: Barcelona are looking for more cover in midfield after the departures of Paulinho and Andres Iniesta. Given Rabiot’s contract expires next season, PSG may be tempted to sell.

Why it won’t happen: While he would bolster their squad, the Catalans aren’t desperate to sign him and PSG have shown in the past with Marco Verratti that they won’t be forced into a sale. Meanwhile, Arthur has impressed in midfield during pre-season while Philippe Coutinho can play there as well.

Prediction: None of the involved parties are determined to make the deal go through. The player as well may be inclined to run down his contract and procure a better deal next summer.

MARCOS ROJO – MANCHESTER UNITED TO EVERTON

    Marcos Rojo

    Marcos Rojo

Everton are working to acquire the services of Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo this summer.

The Toffees continue to bolster their squad under Marco Silva and a £30 million deal for the Argentina international could be their latest signing, the Daily Mail reports.

Why it will happen: Everton, like last summer, seem determined to throw money around and latest target Rojo is definitely in the shop window.

Why it won’t happen: The asking price may prove to be an issue, especially given the Argentine’s wages as well.

Prediction: Silva has worked with the defender previously and it looks like a reunion is on the cards.
