Vidal spent three seasons with Bayern Munich.

Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal from Bayern Munich, pending a medical, for a reported fee of around £27million (€30million).

In a statement on their website, the club said they have agreed a three-year deal with Vidal, who will be presented to the fans shortly.

The 31-year-old, who joined Bayern in 2015, was also a target for Inter Milan, who looked to have nearly completed a deal earlier this week, but Barcelona have stolen a march on the Serie A giants.

For La Blaugrana, Vidal adds depth to a midfield that was stretched thin at times last season. He’s the second player in the position to join this summer, after Brazilian starlet Arthur, and reinforces a midfield corps that includes Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic, and Philippe Coutinho – who could be pushed further forward thanks to the new arrival.

Burnley are interested in giving goalkeeper Joe Hart a Premier League lifeline, Press Association Sport understands.

The Clarets are keen to sign Hart, who will again not be part of Pep Guardiola’s plans at Manchester City.

Sean Dyche has yet to make any signings so far this summer, but has goalkeeping issues after his number one Nick Pope had shoulder surgery this week while Tom Heaton is coming back from a calf injury.

Hart, 31, has not played for City since August 2016 and has spent the last two seasons on loan at Torino and West Ham.

He struggled to reach the heights with the Hammers, though, and lost his place in the England squad for the World Cup, with Pope chosen in his place.

The deal, which is set to be a permanent one, could be completed over the weekend.

Italy striker Mario Balotelli has reportedly been offered a return to Serie A with Parma, but the promoted side are struggling to meet his wage demands.

Balotelli, 27, is available on a free transfer after two successful campaigns with Nice managed to rejuvenate his stagnant career. He had been expected to remain in Ligue 1 with Marseille, but they failed to thrash out an agreement with agent Mino Raiola.

Gazzetta dello Sport stated on Friday that the Gialloblu – back in the top flight for the first time since 2014/15 and free of the chronic financial troubles that caused their relegation – have opened talks to land the ex-Internazionale and AC Milan hit man.

These negotiations are proving fraught, however, as Parma have offered €2.5 million per year and Raiola has demanded €5m per year to sign.

Balotelli struck 43 times in 66 Nice matches.
