Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde is pressing the club to land two more summer signings, according to reports.
The La Liga champions have already been busy bolstering their squad in pre-season. An agreement was reached at the weekend for Bayern Munich and Chile battler Arturo Vidal, who will join Gremio midfielder Arthur, Bordeaux winger Malcolm and Sevilla centre-back Clement Lenglet at Camp Nou for 2018/19.
SPORT state that as acquisitions for €128 million have been balanced by €92m of sales, the latest being Aleix Vidal back to Sevilla, Valverde wants a pair of other new faces.
Another centre midfielder is needed to replace Paulinho after his return to Guangzhou Evergrande, while a reserve left-back should come in to fill in for Lucas Digne after he was allowed to join Everton.
Inter Milan have had a bid for Mousa Dembele rejected by Tottenham, The Sun reports.
The Belgium international has been angling for a move away from White Hart Lane this summer but Spurs have so far been unwilling to sell, despite receiving an offer from Inter.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are yet to make any signings of their own this summer and that is understood to be holding them back. The north London outfit however are closing in on bringing in Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.
They will need to bolster their squad further though before they consider selling any of their first team players.
Barcelona’s No2 goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen refused to commit his future to the club when quizzed during the pre-season tour to the United States.
Cillessen, 29, has featured just twice in La Liga since he joined from Ajax in August 2016. This has led to rumours about an imminent move away.
“I do not know,” replied the Netherlands international when asked about his transfer status. “I want to play many games and that is it.”
A lack of options are apparent for Cillessen, with potential suitors such as Roma and Liverpool already snapping up new shot stoppers this summer.
