AC Milan have turned down a €60 million offer from Wolves for Franck Kessie, with the midfielder insisting that he is happy to stay at the San Siro.

CalcioMercato claims that Wolves offered an initial €40 plus €20m (£18m/$23m) in add-ons for the 21-year-old, who only joined Milan on loan from Atalanta in 2017.

However, the Rossoneri don’t want to sell and are now planning talks over a fresh contract for the Ivory Coast international.

It's been another frustrating summer for Rafael Benitez.

Swansea defender Federico Fernandez headed for Tyneside on Thursday afternoon as Newcastle attempted to push through a deadline day deal.

With the two clubs still working to agree a fee, the 29-year-old Argentina international made his way to the north-east to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms.

The Swans’ assistant manager Billy Reid told a press conference: “Fede has been here throughout pre-season and was excellent on Saturday, but he’s a player who sees his future elsewhere.

“It’s not settled yet, but it looks like he will go to Newcastle.”

Frustrated Magpies boss Rafael Benitez has spent much of the summer transfer window seeing his best-laid plans thwarted by the club’s unwillingness to fund his recruitment plans.

However, a knee injury to Florian Lejeune, which could see the Frenchman miss much of the new campaign, and the departure of Chancel Mbemba means he is short at the back.

Fernandez, who joined the Swans from Serie A side Napoli in August 2014, has two years remaining on his existing deal.

Set for Goodison: Yerry Mina.

Yerry Mina is currently undergoing a medical in Barcelona ahead of his proposed transfer deadline day move to Everton, Sky Sports News reports.

The 23-year-old Colombian is expected to complete his transfer to Goodison Park later on Thursday, with the two clubs agreeing a fee in the region of €35million.

Mina has struggled at the Camp Nou since his sign €11.8m switch from Palmeiras last January.

The Toffees are desperate for reinforcements in defence given Michael Keane and Phil Jagielka are their only experienced central defenders.
