Attracting interest: Ivan Rakitic.

Barcelona are desperate to keep Ivan Rakitic at the Camp Nou and will offer the Croat a bumper new contract soon, Marca reports.

Bayern Munich and more recently Paris Saint-Germain have been chasing the 2018 World Cup finalist, who at 30, is still considered an important man in Blaugrana’s midfield despite the summer arrivals of Arthur and Arturo Vidal.

Although Rakitic’s existing deal runs out in 2021, Barca want to ensure the former Sevilla man remains in Catalonia.

That could mean a new contract for him, including a staggering €125million release clause.

Coveted full-back: Marcos Alonso.

Chelsea could face a fight to keep hold of in-form wing-back Marcos Alonso, according to AS.

Both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are preparing offers, believed to be in the region of €30million, for the 27-year-old before the La Liga transfer window closes on August 31.

Alonso is a key man for Maurizio Sarri’s Stamford Bridge side with his ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch.

And although the Spaniard is reportedly happy in west London, a return back to Madrid – his birthplace – could prove hard to turn down.

Indeed, Alonso began his career at Real but struggled to exert himself at the Bernabeu, making just one first-team appearance in total during the 2009-10 campaign.

Will he stay or go? Aaron Ramsey.

Aaron Ramsey’s Arsenal future has been thrown into further doubt after the north London club refused to accept the player’s wage demands, the Evening Standard reports.

The 27-year-old midfielder’s Gunners deal expires in the summer of 2019, and despite talks, the concerned parties have yet to reach an agreement over a new contract.

It is thought the Wales international wants a significant pay increase – believed to be double what he is currently earning (£110,000-a-week) – to stay at the Emirates long-term but Arsenal have set their stall out and will not pay up.

As such, it remains to be seen whether Ramsey will remain an Arsenal player for much longer with talk of an exit to Europe.

Chelsea were thought to be in for the former Cardiff man but that transfer never materialised.
