The 25-year-old was linked with a move away from Old Trafford during the summer after apparent discontent with manager Jose Mourinho. However, he remained in situ when the window shut on August 9.
Now, the Frenchman wants to team up with Cristiano Ronaldo at his former club, and wouldn’t be cup-tied for the Champions League due to new UEFA rules.
His desire to return to Turin in January is the driving force behind his wish to leave England’s northwest, with agent Mino Raiola already working on a possible switch.
Aston Villa have signed Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham on a season-long loan deal.
The 20-year-old becomes the seventh new arrival at Villa Park this summer, with the Championship promotion hopefuls getting the deal done just before the 5pm deadline for transfers on Friday.
Abraham scored five times in 31 Premier League games for Swansea last season and was also called up to the England squad by Gareth Southgate.
He has Championship experience having spent the 2016-17 campaign on loan with Bristol City, scoring 26 goals for the Robins.
Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri says it is up to Tammy Abraham if the striker makes a loan move on Friday.
The 20-year-old England international, who spent last season at Swansea, has been linked with a season-long loan move to Aston Villa in the Championship.
Sarri, speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth, said: “I am not able to guarantee to him a spot at the moment. But if he wants to remain, I’m very, very happy with him.
“He’s very young for a striker. He can improve more. I think it’s up to him.”
