  • Star: Konoplyanka.

Yevhen Konoplyanka is delighted to have joined “remarkable Sevilla” after linking up with the La Liga side.

The Ukraine international has long been linked with a variety of clubs around Europe but eventually decided on a move to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

The 25-year-old has signed a four-year deal, which contains a €40 million (Dh164m) buy-out clause, and joins from Dnipro for an undisclosed fee.

Konoplyanka has paid tribute to his old club and thanked Sevilla fans for welcoming him to his new home.

“I sincerely thank everyone who helped me to embark on a new stage in my career and achieve a transfer to the remarkable Sevilla,” he wrote on his Instagram account.

“Thanks to my family, my friends, my team-mates and the most loyal fans of Dnipro for all these wonderful years together.”

Konoplyanka had spent all of his professional career with Dnipro, but the closest he came to winning silverware was in last season’s Europa League, when his side lost to Sevilla in the final.

He becomes Sevilla’s second new recruit this week after the club sealed a €9.7m (Dh39m) deal for Stoke’s Steven N’Zonzi.

The former France Under-21 international signed a four-year contract with the Spanish club, which includes a €30m buyout clause.

Meanwhile, former Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia has refuted AC Milan’s claim that he had backed out of an agreement to join them after signing a five-year deal with rivals Internazionale.

The France international, a €35million (Dh142m) capture from Monaco, was unveiled on Friday.

And the 22-year-old said: “I felt Inter were closer to me and speaking to (Inter coach Roberto) Mancini confirmed that feeling.

“I had no hesitation in making my choice and what was written in the papers was false. I never said ‘yes’ to Milan. I spoke to Mancini and he convinced me to come. When a coach like that calls you, it’s impossible to say no.”
