  • Nilmar joins Nasr.

Brazil striker Nilmar has completed his move to Al Nasr in a sign they are set to cut all ties with AWOL Ibrahima Toure.

Nilmar, 31, has inked a two-year deal after a fee was agreed with Internacional last week and he subsequently passed a medical. The former Lyon and Villarreal star has already joined up with his new team-mates in their German training camp.

“Al Nasr announces they have formally contracted with the Brazilian Nilmar for two seasons after he has successfully passed the medical tests,” they posted on Instagram on Tuesday. “He has now joined the Nasr training camp currently stationed in Germany.”

The move is likely to spell the end of Toure’s rollercoaster two-year spell with the Blue Wave, who are eager to sell their lethal centre forward after he was absent from pre-season for a second-successive summer. The controversial Senegal international – who has scored an impressive 34 goals in 43 Arabian Gulf League games since his August 2013 transfer from Monaco – did not feature in Tuesday’s 2-1 friendly win against Dibba Al Fujairah and is not believed to have yet joined up despite the club’s original July 11 return date.

Confirmation of winger Jonathan Pitroipa’s arrival from Al Jazira has yet to arrive even though his impending purchase was also revealed by Nasr at the same time as Nilmar last Friday. The pair and former Al Ahli playmaker Luis Jimenez are set to be in the four-player foreign quota, Brazilian defensive midfielder Renan Garcia likely to be retained with errant Toure on the scrap heap.

Nilmar comes to Al Maktoum Stadium after he registered six league goals in 22 appearances during his third stint with Inter. He has previous experience of playing in the Middle East, featuring for Al Rayyan and El Jaish in the Qatar Stars League from 2012-14.
