  • Champions: Kompnay & Pellegrini pose with the Premier League trophy.

Manchester City FC captain Vincent Kompany and manager Manuel Pellegrini are urging fans to come and join in the title winning celebrations at an open training session in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday night.

The squad, who won both the English Premier League and the Capital One Cup this season, flew into the UAE this morning.

The only time they will be all together for supporters to see will be at the free open training session at Al Jazira FC stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday night from 6.30pm. Both trophies will be on display at the event.

Captain Kompany said: "Ending our season in Abu Dhabi is the perfect way to celebrate our double trophy win. I speak for the whole squad when I say how excited we are to visit the fans who fought right to the end with us. It really has become a home from home for City and we can't wait to share the title winning experience with all those that supported us."

Pellegrini, added: "To win two trophies in one season is an honour for me, for the players and for the whole Club. Going to Abu Dhabi gives us the opportunity to share this special moment with our fans in a country we always look forward to visiting."

Meanwhile, Al Ain FC fans have spoken today of their excitement at welcoming the English Premier League Champions to the Hazza Bin Zayed stadium.

The match is one of the most hotly-anticipated game in the UAE for years with an expected 25,000 sell-out at Al Ain FC’s spectacular home stadium.

“I am very excited and so are all my friends,” said Al Ain FC fan, Saeed. “It is all we have been talking about for weeks and now that Manchester City have won the title in England, it will make the match even more special. “It’s great for us as fans of Al Ain and also for the rest of the city. It’s really great.

“It is great that Manchester City are coming to the Hazza Bin Zayed stadium,” added Mohammed. “We were all supporting them in their last match of the season hoping they would be Champions. They did and that is great for us.”

Some of the Gulf region’s top players, including Yasser Al Qahtani from Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal Club, former Al Ain player, Boubacar Sanogo and Ismail Mattar from Al Awahda will join Al Ain’s top players for the showdown at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.

It is the first big test for the four-month-old Hazza Bin Zayed stadium which will make its debut on the world stage with a mouthwatering tie between two great teams.
