  • Lucky boys: Mubarak and Majed are thrilled about their new Manchester City shirt.

Two lucky youngsters from the Manchester City Football School were among the first fans in Abu Dhabi to get their hands on the team’s new home kit.

Brothers Mubarak and Majed Al Junaibi were thrilled to try on the new Manchester City strip at the City Store in Marina Mall before it officially goes on sale in the UAE tomorrow (Thursday).

“I’m so happy about this,” said Mubarak, 13. “I saw a picture of the new kit on Instagram and I said to my dad immediately, ‘I want to buy it!’

“I really like the new design: it’s the Manchester City blue and the dark lines make it even better. I’m really excited to get the kit before it’s even in the shops.”

The brothers, both pupils at Emirates National School, are players of the City Football Schools Abu Dhabi at Zayed Sports City, where they have both trained for the last three years.

Ten-year-old Majed was equally impressed with his favourite team’s new look. He said: “I love the new kit and I’m very excited.”

Field blue with dark blue high cuffs, the shirt’s constructed v-neck collar has a field blue triangle beneath it and a dark blue pennant tab sewn in to the back of the neck. The tab carries the bold statement ‘We are City’ in field blue.

The new design will see the Barclays Premier League champions defend their title in all-blue next season. The kit, which will be available at the City Store and selected other outlets, has a sleek, dynamic look capturing the club’s innovative spirit.

The new kit, which the club officially unveiled in the UK last week, features Nike’s signature design details, and offers players the latest in performance innovation, kit technology and environmental sustainability.
