  • The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the FIFA Club World Cup (FCWC) UAE 2017 has invited U-12 teams from UAE football clubs and academies to compete in the FCWC Mobile Roadshow this Saturday, 21 October.

The tournament will take place in Zayed Sports City (ZSC), Abu Dhabi, where the world’s top seven clubs will be competing from December 6 — 16 in the 14th edition of the FCWC.

“Our aim since launching the Mobile Roadshow back in May is to engage the UAE community in one of the greatest football tournaments on this year’s international calendar,” said Aref Hamad Al Awani, tournament director of the LOC.

“We have seen thousands of participants take part in the Mobile Roadshow across the UAE and we are delighted to host a selection of the UAE’s budding football stars to compete and test their football skills, in what is set to be an exciting and memorable competition.”

The teams competing on October 21, from 4pm till 6pm opposite gate 29 in ZSC, will be testing their skills across several skill-based games and six social experiences, which are individually measurable to test participants’ football abilities.

Speed Hero: Tests how fast you can run across a given distance.

Reflex Hero: Test your reflexes by tapping the lights that come on randomly all around you in 40 seconds.

Passing Hero: Pass the ball to a target as many times as possible in 60 seconds, without touching the same target twice in a row.

Touch Hero: Test your reaction speeds by touching as many targets as possible in 60 seconds.

Save Hero: How many shots on goal can you save?

Throw in Hero: Requires participants to see how many balls they can throw in to buckets.

E-Sports Hero: Test your E-Sports skills in a game of FIFA versus your friends.

Precision Hero: Put your scoring skills to the test and see how many goals you can score against the defenders

“We are committed to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle in the UAE and nothing inspires that more than hosting some of the most prestigious sports events in the world.

The FCWC will see some of the world’s greatest clubs competing and inspiring the next generation of football players here in the UAE,” he added.

The Mobile Roadshow is touring the UAE’s schools, malls, public parks and many more, encouraging local communities to get active.

It is scheduled to visit various locations across the country in the build up to the tournament that will kick-off on December 6.

Following the FCWC official draw in Abu Dhabi, FIFA legends Ivan Córdoba, Eric Abidal and Mikael Silvestre all visited The Dubai Mall to test their skills at the Mobile Roadshow and set new scores for others to break.

The trio arrived at The Dubai Mall to meet youngsters taking part in the Mobile Roadshow activities, before going head-to-head at some of the ‘Experience’ challenges.

“When FIFA chooses a host country, it’s because they know that the infrastructure, organisation and fans are of the top level,” said Silvestre.

“This tournament is growing, just look at the media attention. It’s growing in the best way. I think there is more out there in football, but this competition means a lot because it’s the winners of the winners, the best of the best.

“I think the fans in the UAE will be lucky to witness this competition and appreciate all the clubs’ different styles of football.”
