Around 300 Manchester City supporters turned out at Zayed Sports City on Sunday for a special Fanzone event to watch their team beat rivals Manchester United 1-0 in the Barclays Premier League.
Fans were able to have their picture taken with Manchester City’s current trophy collection of the English Premier League title and the Capital One Cup – a first for UAE fans.
“We have taken our pictures with the trophies; it’s great to see them. I was in Abu Dhabi watching us win the Premier League last season, and it was a brilliant day,” said Abdulaziz Mohammed.
With City beating rivals United for a fourth time in a row for the first time since 1970, City have kept themselves in the title race and still hope to retain their Premier League crown.
At the first Fanzone of the season, supporters were able to enjoy a Formula One simulator and take part in a City -vs- City FIFA 2015 game for a chance to win a trip to the Etihad Stadium to watch City in action this season.
Mohanned Ghazal was the lucky winner and couldn’t wait to get to Manchester.
“This is the first time I get the opportunity to see my favorite team in the lovely Etihad stadium. I can’t wait to see Aguero in the flesh.”
It was Sergio Aguero who clinched the derby for City, scoring his 11th goal in 12 Premier League games.
Many more City Fanzones at Zayed Sports City are planned for the remainder of the season.
