  • Defending champions Real Madrid will clash against Liverpool in the Champions League final in Kiev on Saturday night.

Zinedine Zidane‘s men are aiming for their third consecutive title, as they face Jurgen Klopp‘s side in what promises to be a mouth-watering clash.

Here we take a look at some key stats ahead of the all-important encounter.

    – Real Madrid can win their 13th Champions Cup/Champions League, extending their record for most. AC Milan have won the competition seven times. Liverpool, FC Barcelona and Bayern München each have five wins.

    – Real have a perfect record in CL finals: six wins from six matches. The last time they lost a CC/CL final was in 1980/81 when they were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool.

    – Cristiano Ronaldo could win a record fifth Champions League trophy (since 1992/93). He is currently tied on four with Clarence Seedorf, Xavi, Andrés Iniesta, Lionel Messi and Gerard Piqué.

    – Ronaldo is the Champions League’s all-time leading goalscorer on 120 goals (Lionel Messi next on 100).

    Casemiro, Marcelo

    – Benzema could become the first French goalscorer in a CL final since Zinédine Zidane for Real Madrid against Bayer Leverkusen in 2002.

    – Marcelo and Casemiro can become the first Brazilians to win the CC/CL four times. Roberto Carlos, Dani Alves and Sávio all have three.

    – Zinedine Zidane can become the first coach to win the CC/CL three times in a row.

    – Zidane has a 100 per cent success rate in all 17 international knockout ties as manager since taking charge of Real Madrid in January 2016.

He guided his team through the Last 16, quarterfinals, semifinals and final of the Champions League in 2015/16 and 2016/17, the European Super Cup in 2016 and 2017, the semifinals and final of the FIFA Club World Cup in 2016 and 2017, and the Last 16, quarterfinals and semifinals of this season’s CL.
