Diego Simeone lashed out at Argentina national team following their 3-0 defeat to Croatia on Thursday night.
The two-time champions must beat Nigeria on Tuesday to avoid a group-stage exit after they were thrashed by Zlatko Dalic’s troops in Russia.
In an audio recording published by Spanish media, the Atletico Madrid boss took a dig at the national team and even captain Lionel Messi.
“What is happening right now is what has happened to the national team over the past four years, unfortunately: anarchy,” Simeone said.
“There is no leadership from the management or from those who are supposed to lead. I see a team that is lost.”
He added: “Messi is very good, but it is clear that he is very good because he is surrounded by extraordinary players (at Barcelona).
“The question I ask is if you have to choose between Messi and Ronaldo in a normal team, who would you choose?”
Yet, Simeone has hope that Argentina can turn around their fortunes.
“The team is all wrong, but it is Argentina and I believe that it will happen,” he said.
